Red Queen and Cousins

Neither Mihai nor I are fit to be parents.

Mihai was in the kitchen this morning getting Sebastien's food together and generally puttering.  He is not concerned about Sebastien because he can hear him babbling away.  (We had been living by the adage that a silent baby is a baby that is getting into trouble. Apparently it does not follow that if you can hear a baby he is not up to trouble). Eventually Mihai wanders of the kitchen and no baby is to be seen, but he can be heard.  A little bit of looking later, Sebastien is located ON THE STAIRS!  If you are not familiar with our house let me describe it for you; we have stairs without a banister running up a living room wall. A coffee table and couch run parallel to the stairs with a narrow walkway between couch and stairs. Two months, or so, ago we installed a child gate from couch to steps to keep Sebastien away from the steps.  Back to this morning, the child gate was closed and locked. The baby had been in the living room. Our best guess is that Sebastien scaled the coffee table!  We thought we were one step ahead, but then the little bugger learns a new trick and we are struggling to keep.

My lapse in oversight was a little less drastic. I hear an almighty crash coming from the living room. I am on the computer not blogging. I dash on out to figure out what fell to see Sebastien STANDING ON THE OTHER COUCH, leaning against the CD case reaching for remotes. (It was a remote that went crashing to the ground).  I think he might have used his airplane/car/walked as a step up to the couch. Regardless he is not a child that can be left alone.  He has also taken to climbing on his bookcase in his room to get at either the bottons on his stereo or the basket of baby supplies.

This past weekend my sister and her two children, nikolas and mia, were in town visiting us, or as Suzanna likes to call it, whale watching....  We had a great, although exhausting, time. Mihai declared in the middle of bath time (for the children) of the fist night that he had made an executive decision and that we are NOT having three kids! It was fun to watch the children play together. I missed the best bits, when Sebastien sat on his LITTLE cousing Mia. I understand she was not to thrilled with those happenings, but then who would look forward to something more than twice your weight coming at you with all the grace of a toddler?! I hope that we can try and make this a biannual event. (See Suzanna's blog entries for pictures of the event).

I have two pictures that Suzanna does not have. We stopped at hanna anderson on our way from the airport. (BTW - I think I am getting a mothers day present from this store. the website was open on Mihai's computer. Will update you either way. I can't figure out which matching outfit mihai might have picked out!). Bargains are hard to come by there, but some of the clothes are cute and the photo opportunities could nto be passed up.

A picture from a few weeks back. Krampus was happily sleeping in our CLEAN laundry, until a little boy climbed in...

We bought Sebastien his birthday present this past weekend. A bicycle for his father and a seat for Sebastien so that they could go biking together.  He seems to enjoy it. Or rather, the first time was novel enough that he did not complain....

And to prove that sometimes my blogging is timely. A photo from today. The boys are outside playing with hoses, watering plants. I dont' think Mihai counted on getting a shower.
