The first. You can opt out of credit card offers (I used to get tons of offers, especially from Citibank). Now I get none.
1-888-5 OPT OUT. You will need social security numbers.

The second. A Shred-It truck might be coming to a location near you. Conviniently after tax day. They will shred for you up to five boxes of paper.  http://www.shredit.com/communityShredUSA.asp
