My baby had his morning train
Remember the song "My baby takes the morning train"? Well, you'll be happy to know we now sing it as indicated in the title of this entry. While our baby's bowel movements may not have kept you awake at night, we surely went through an anxious time waiting for him to meet his recommended daily quota. As a good champ, he's managed to surpass the recommended daily allowance of icky-poos. His father is so proud, and his mother is wondering if she'll ever get used to nursing for half an hour in the distinct aroma emanating from his diapers. You'll also be happy to know he's not losing weight anymore. Now we have the added goal to bulk him up (1 oz./day). You thought body builders had it tough. And he has to do all this without the help of Balco phrama.
Granny is in town to take care of the parents and grab a little bit of tummy time with little Sebastien. The house has been vacuumed, dusted, and all the laundry done, and that was just the first 48 hours. Seems that our choice of vacuum cleaner (Miele) provided her with much joy. In eager anticipation she tried to vacuum as poor Marina was trying to sleep. We had to explain that while we're trying not to coddle Sebastien (in hopes of being able to carry on with our lives while he's asleep), the exhausted mother's sleep is a different ballgame.
Ah Kong (granpa in Malay) came out today to meet his new grandson and fight with granny over belly time and burping privileges. Somehow, the parents are still stuck with diaper duty. Here's some unsolicited advice for first time mothers: you spend a lot of time nursing, think about providing your bottom with a comfortable home. We had to leave our poor child alone for the first time to rush out and purchase a nursing glider. Anybody want a rocking chair? Buying this simple piece of furniture from Buy Buy Baby was much harder than it had to be (took three tries at the checkout counter). Customer service is not one of their stronger points.
That's it for now. The baby's in a milk coma and he'll hopefully stay asleep long enough for mom to rest. We'll try to post again soon with the much requested pictures.
