Just Waiting

Two days berfore our Estimated Due Date and the crib arrived today!  This is a crib that we Purchased at the end of December, roughly thriteen weeks ago.  We expected to pick it up in mid-February and assemble it ourselves (a rite of passage for all first time parents).  Alas the store we purchased it from had distribution problems and we are only now receiving our crib.  In order to placate this rather annoyed pregnant woman, the store gave us free delivery and set up!  And that is how I have spent today, waiting for the delivery men to come and set the crib up (which took them less than thirty minutes. A good two hours faster than Mihai and I would have done, especially as bending over is not one of those tasks undertaken lightly by me.)  Finally I was able to put my homemade bedding on the crib!
The major things in the room are done. Just minor things to do, which the baby will not notice if they never get completed.  I am tired of doing projects at this point in time.
The other night we made our final large anticipated purchase: a stroller. I have to say this process is more complicated than buying a car. Atleast with a car you have had lessons on how to drive it and have a very good idea what you want and need. It also helps that most car manufacturers don't actually expect that you will need to purchase another one in the next two years.  Baby strollers makers, on the otherhand, figure they have a captive audience and only put some of the feautures on anyone stroller. Making it almost imperative that you pay out another car payment on a stroller within two years.  We are the proud ownders of a Red Peg Perego Pliko P3: it folds nicely, accepts a car seat, and is suitable for infants. On the downside it weighs about 20 lbs and does not have shock absorbers (I hazard a guess they are useful in some environment, not sure if it is any that we plan on encounterring).  Pictured below is me reading the instructions! (a rare event in Mihai's eyes) and the cat testing it out.  Just about everything we have for the baby has been checked out by the cat.
I had an appointment with a midwife yestarday for my 39-week checkup.  She tells me I am almost three centimeters dilated (out of a possible 10), but would not guarntee a delivery date.  We even had to discuss what would happen if the baby has not arrived in fifteen days time (induction)! Needless to say, now that things at home are ready for the baby, my priority is figuring out a way to convince him that it is time to leave my uterus!  All thoughts are being considered.

Hey! Copy cat! That's our stroller! Guess it goes to show that great minds do think a like. Room looks great! Bumpers, skirt and decor look fabulous darling! You did a great job.

Hope you don't plan on taking Fugly with you on those stroller jaunts, she might lose a few teeth down there. Have fun fighting with Mihai over whether or not the front wheels of the stroller get locked or unlocked...

    We're still waiting...
