Woodworking trials and tribulations
Four days of vacation and nothing to show for. The cradle ain't done but more on that in a moment. Today Marina had another baby appointment. She's now 90% e-faced (the internet is everywhere nowadays) and 1-2 cm (almost an inch for the anglos) dilated and (drumroll.....) baby is at station 0! The translation of all this is that the pregnancy is progressing and we can hope to see Brioche soon. Oh, and the news that made Marina very happy: Brioche's head is "normal sized".
And now back to the woodworking. If you are still working on the angles I can email you the exact numbers. I'd type them in right now but they are in my workshop. I've spent 3 out of my 4 days of vacation working on the cradle and thusfar I've only made it to 3 out of 12 joints. I've also found out that some of my panel joins were less perfect than I'd have wanted so now I'm struggling to glue back several odd shaped pieces. The upside is that the whole box structure will probably keep everything in place. A word of warning to fellow wood-workers, though. If you thought dove-tails were a pain, try doing them at an angle. Fortunately I've decided to use finger joints on the sides of the cradle. This whole project will take at least another couple of full work-days so chances are Brioche will arrive before his cradle is completed. Not that he'd be able/allowed to use it for the first few months of life anyway. What this means, though, is that I'll be using powertools on 4 hours of sleep. I should go out and buy more gauze.
That's about all for today. Homemade ragu (ragout?) sauce is waiting for me. Oh, in case you haven't noticed, I've just passed Rina in blog entries. Go me!
